Why is having our dreams dashed a right of passage?

“I was like you, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.”

“I was young once.”

“It’s all downhill from here.”

Why’s it more upstanding and normal to stay in society, working jobs we say are “killing” us and numbing ourselves with… entertainment, food, drugs, booze, smokes, than it is to follow our hearts and refuse to be bullied by society?

Who’s really got it twisted?

Those of us who continue to numb our way through existences we hate—slowly killing ourselves—or those of us who leave it, to live live more fully?
